Fastpitch

Fastpitch was designed for action, right from the 'get go'. A game designed for instant action or a tool to practice game situations in a preseason tournament.

A popular form of the game with its own national competition in the early 90's, Fastpitch is still played today at various levels throughout New Zealand.

3 balls as opposed to 4 for a walk, teams starting most innings with runners already on base (similar to 8 inning tie breaker rule) creating a fast and furious form of the game.

Fastpitch rules

  • 3 balls for a walk
  • 1st inning - runner starts on 1st
  • 2nd inning - runner starts on 2nd
  • 3rd inning - runner starts on 3rd
  • 4th inning - runner starts on 1st
  • 5th inning -runner starts on 2nd
  • 6th inning - runner starts on 3rd
  • 7th inning - runner starts on 1st
  • 8th inning - runner starts on 2nd (tie breakers rules as per normal softball rules)
