Rules of N.Z. Evergreens (As ratified at the 1986 meeting)
1. Players must have played Senior A Representative Softball, (for any province), and must have been out of rep. Softball for a minimum of 2 years.
2. There is no age limit.
3. Pitchers must not be currently pitching at Senior A Club level. Note, a Pitcher doing this can still play Evergreens, but not as a Pitcher.
4. At the social function at every tournament a minimum of 10 tickets must be purchased by each participating team, (whether 10 people will attend or not).
5. All teams attending our tournament must bring a non playing Umpire.
6. The N.Z.S.A. Tied Team Formula applies to our tournament.
7. The N.Z.S.A. Tie Breakers Rule applies at our tournament including the final. To start at the 8th innings
8. The maximum tournament size will be 16 teams. The first 16 entries accompanied by the correct entry fee, will be accepted.
9. A compulsory raffle is held at each tournament, with each team paying $100 00. This raffle is to be drawn at the social function. The 1st prize winner is expected to donate at least $200.00 to their own Junior Softball Association. This raffle is to be administered by the N.Z. Officials. The prize winning marbles do not go back in for further draws.
10. All teams financial obligations must be fulfilled before the commencement of the tournament.
11. Entries. If under 8 teams a round robin to be played. Final, if necessary to be played between the teams with the least losses.
11A2 teams tied straight final.
11B3 teams tied toss for bye.
11C4 teams tied 2 semi finals and final.
11D If one team withdraws revert to A or B.
12. Entries. If over 8 teams section play as below,
12A.8 to 11 teams 2 sections finals as rule 11.
12E.12 to 15 teams 3 sections finals as rule 11.
12C.16 teams 4 sections finals as rule 11.
13 New Zealand to allocate sections.
Proviso to rule 1. In some Associations there may be people, who have not actually ever played senior A rep Softball, but may have contributed greatly to the sport over many years, as Players, Coaches, Officials of an Association etc. in these cases we are quite happy to waive the rule, and team members in this category are equally welcome at our tournaments.
