NZ Evergreens Men’s Softball Tournament – Wellington 2007 (National Tournament)
Dates are: Friday 9th March & Saturday 10th March

Venue: Hataitai Ballpark, Hataitai Park, Moxham Ave, Hataitai

Brief speech from the Minister of Sport - Trevor Mallard @ 8:45am Friday 9th, then the first ball will be pitched by the local MP - Annette King @ 9:00am. Games progress all day on both main softball diamonds (back to back) and there will be two twilight games, then one game under floodlight @ 7:30pm on diamond # 1.

Sixteen teams are contesting the “Pop Chote Trophy” that was first held in Cambridge in 1971 in which Auckland, Waikato, Hutt Valley & Wellington contested with Hutt Valley taking out the trophy.

Play commences from 9:00am again on Saturday morning 10th March with semi finals (@ approx 4:30pm) & finals (@ approx 6:00pm) held that same afternoon. Prizegiving & function will be held at St Patrick’s College Hall in Kilbirnie from 7:30pm @ $40 per ticket (limited tickets), which covers main roast dinner & desert with a cash bar (at “extremely” reasonable prices) and music provided (disco).

NZ Evergreens are generally made up of former representatives of NZ or their province and are over the age of 30 years young.

Miramar Softball Club are also hosting a “70th Anniversary & Reunion” over this weekend with their function held at their clubrooms on Friday night with many former noted players attending from all over NZ & visiting from Australia.
All spectators very welcome – it will be a great spectacle! Refreshments will be available in a massive marque.

The next National Evergreens Bowls Tournament scheduled for Auckland in 2007, have revised dates.
Tournament will now be held over Wed, Thurs, Friday, 28 - 30th March, at the Sandringham Bowling Club, Auckland.
