Softball NZ would like to inform all associations that for any International player coming from overseas to play in our National tournaments, there must be an WBSC International clearance form completed and submitted to Softball NZ before that respective tournament managers meeting. Form above..

For those International players coming directly from a US College/University to play in New Zealand, then just a written communication from the institution verifying their enrolment is sufficient, there is no need to complete the WBSC Clearance form. Only players coming directly from overseas clubs & associations need to complete the attached form. International players are players that are not NZ Citizens. Currently, NZ Residents are not classed as International players.

Guideline for Tournament Selectors

  • Guidelines
  • Pitcher Award
The Tournament Pitcher Award is not necessarily to be given to the pitcher with the best ERA. The award is to be given to the best performed pitcher at the tournament. Low ERA’s can be achieved by second string pitchers facing weaker opposition while the first string pitcher is required to contain the stronger batters from the top ranked teams – again, raw statistics often do not tell the whole story.

Bat Compressor Test
Bat compressor testing will be undertaken at selected national tournaments from the 2015-16 season onwards. Information below outlines testing protocols and video examples of failed and passed tests courtesy of the SNZ Umpires.
