Storm and Tuna Slayers eliminated

The Hutt Valley Kotuku Raiders are the first women’s team to secure a spot in Sundays FASTBALL 45®
Central Regional Qualifier with a 7-6 win over the Wellington Storm.

Caitlyn Lewin got the Raiders off to a perfect start when she slugged the ball over the home run
fence in the first bat of the game to put her team up 2-0.

The Storm responded straight away with runs of their own in a game that saw plenty of action with
the leads changing back and forth.

The 3rd and bases loaded inning proved the difference for the Raiders as they applied the pressure to
take back the lead and eventually the game.

The second game of the night saw the Wellington Thunder take on the Hutt Valley Tuna Slayers in
the men’s section.

It was a one sided affair with the Thunder slaying the Tuna 18-5 at a very windy Fraser Park.
The Thunder showed their class and why they are the number one seeds with some heavy hitting as
they piled on the runs throughout the game.

Black Sox player Jerome Raemaki took the ball long in the top of the fourth with a two run shot
easily clearing the left-centre fence adding further salt to the Slayer’s wounds.

Black Sox pitcher Josh Pettett was in fine form dominating the opposition before being replaced by
Reilly Makea.

Tomorrows games will see some close match ups with the second and third seeds taking on each
other to determine the other finalists.
