NATIONAL FEMALE BATTERY PROGRAMME - BATTERY DIRECTOR

3 July 2020

The NFBP is designed to spearhead the identification of talented pitchers and catchers who have the potential to make an impact on future White Sox performances on the international stage, and ultimately qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games.

The Battery Director will play a pivotal role in leading the delivery of the NFBP. This non-coaching role has been designed to support coach and athlete performances and results through effective delivery to achieve Softball New Zealand’s vision of success.

You will be a dynamic leader with the ability to build positive and collaborative relationships and credibility with Lead Coaches, athletes, and stakeholders. Ideally candidates will have extensive experience in national or international high-performance sport programmes and proven leadership with performance programmes, teams, and culture that has achieved success.

Organisation  Description
Softball New Zealand are looking for an enthusiastic contributor to the governance of our sport. We have a vacancy for an Appointed Board member to complement a board of four elected and three appointed members.

You would be joining a passionate team of volunteers who are guiding the sport to take advantage of all the opportunities to grow softball as a premium sport.  Softball NZ has a strategy vision: “One Softball”.

Please note, the incumbent for this position is intending to apply for the board role.
 
Particular skills/competencies sought
As an Appointed Board Member you will bring your general business expertise and
one more of the following specialties:
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology
  • Sport leadership experience
  • Legal skills
 
In terms of the governance role, it would be expected you are able to demonstrate:
  • Strategic thinking
  • Ability to network
  • Leadership and governance expertise (either corporate or sporting).
 
Commitment required
There are 7 meetings per year.
