New Zealand has been a consistent world leader at the elite level of international softball. The national men’s team, the Black Sox, has won seven world championships 1976, 1984, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2013 and 2017. The team is currently ranked number one in the world.
The Black Sox Pitching Coach will support the Head Coach of the senior men’s program toward the main focus, which is winning the World Baseball Softball Congress (WBSC) World Championships held every two years. This includes taking a lead role in the development and performance of pitching within the National Squad and Extended National Squad through camps, tours, international series and other preparation leading into and including the World Championships in 2021.

In February 2021 New Zealand will host the Men’s Softball World Cup in Auckland. We are looking for someone with the x factor to be the full time Event Director on a fixed term contract to 31st March 2021, with a preferred start date of January 2020.
This is a demanding role that requires previous experience in delivering a world class event. We need someone with a broad range of skills, who is self-managing and self-motivated, prepared to work long-hours when needed and has a can-do attitude.
The key responsibility is to ensure all operational requirements are met including temporary infrastructure, food and beverage, ticketing, grounds, marketing and recruitment of a motivated event crew.
Portfolios have been defined and the Event Director will work to build a strong team around him/her and Directors committed to deliver a world class event.
