VolunteersMessage from the General Manager of SNZSoftball New Zealand is deeply appreciative of the contribution volunteers make towards our great game. As a sport we are constantly looking for more volunteers either as coaches, umpires, scorers or administrators to help run our game effectively. Development of the game is dependent upon a large number of dedicated volunteers, who give their time freely, without concern for financial gain. Society has changed reducing the pool of people who are prepared to volunteer. Softball has expanded, expectations continue to rise, our membership expects more, and hence the demands upon volunteers are greater. Retaining volunteers has not always been a strength within NZ Softball. We are often trying to find new people to replace those previously involved. As a community we need to get better at retaining the people we have and then attempt to find others to share the load rather than carried by a few dedicated volunteers. It is vitally important we develop and value the people who give up their time to make Softball happen. Softball is fortunate to be served by skilled, dedicated volunteers; these volunteers have in common a passion of the game. Volunteers continue to contribute their time, knowledge and skill where they feel valued. To recognise the contribution that volunteers make to our game, SNZ are in the process of creating a volunteer strategy not only in appreciation of their invaluable work but also in an effort to retain these valued champions. Keep an eye on this page for further updates. General Manager Dane Dougan SPARC Sport Volunteer Award 20/06/2011 Know a sport volunteer doing a great job? What is CoachCorp? CoachCorp creates relationships between companies and community sport to get more people involved in sport and physical activity. Companies that are part of the CoachCorp programme contribute to New Zealand sport by allowing participating employees flexi-time to be coaches, managers, and officials in school and club level sport. This lets more people participate in sport and raises the performance of the athletes. More ... |
