Lil Natana, Softball NZ’s chief scorer since 2015, has been steeped in softball service for over 40 years.

She was a coach and administrator at Whakatane’s Waiohau softball club from 1985 to 2007 and served on the Whakatane Softball Association committee from 1981 to 1988 and later joined the Rotorua Softball Association executive from 2001 to 2007.

Lil became a New Zealand qualified scorer in 1985 and has attended national tournaments every year since.

Chief scorer for the Rotorua SA from 2001 to 2007, she served as the Northern Region Representative on the Softball New Zealand Scorers Panel from 2010 to 2015.

She earned widespread respect for her role as Tournament Statistician at the 2013 men’s World Championships, held at Albany’s Rosedale Park.

Lil took over as SNZ Chief Scorer in 2015 and has so far served three two-year terms.

Still an active scorer and statistician, she was team scorer for the New Zealand White Sox in 2018-19, attending a Canada Cup tournament, the 2018 World Championships in Japan, the WBSC Olympic Games Asia-Oceania Qualifying tournament in Shanghai, China and two Asia Pacific Cup series in Sydney.

As a sign of her international esteem, Lil was an official WBSC Scorer at the WBSC Under-18 Men’s Softball World Cup tournament in Palmerston North in 2020.
