THE GAME


Fastpitch was a game designed for action right from the 'get go', but it can also be used as a tool to practice game situations in a pre-season tournament. A popular form of the game with its own national competition in the early 90's, Fastpitch is still played today at various levels throughout New Zealand.


 
THE RULES


The rules of Fastpitch as exactly the same as Softball with the following exceptions:
 
  • 3 balls for a walk
  • 1st inning - runner starts on 1st
  • 2nd inning - runner starts on 2nd
  • 3rd inning - runner starts on 3rd
  • 4th inning - runner starts on 1st
  • 5th inning -runner starts on 2nd
  • 6th inning - runner starts on 3rd
  • 7th inning - runner starts on 1st
  • 8th inning onwards - runner starts on 2nd (tie breakers rules as per normal softball rules)
